Question 1

What accounting services does Salis provide for UK businesses?

Accepted Answer

We offer a full stack of UK accounting services — bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, self-assessment and corporation tax, annual accounts and company formation — plus management accounts, forecasting and board-level Virtual FD support. Services are delivered digitally across England and Wales.

Question 2

Do you provide accounting for children's care homes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Salis Care is our dedicated arm for children's residential care homes and supported-living providers — covering care-home payroll including sleep-ins and NMW, restricted-fund accounting, per-placement profitability, Ofsted financial viability and Virtual FD support.

Question 3

How does a Virtual FD service work?

Accepted Answer

A Virtual FD gives you board-level financial leadership without the cost of a full-time hire. You get monthly management accounts, cash-flow forecasting, budgeting, KPIs and strategic input on growth and fundraising — delivered remotely and reviewed by video call.

Question 4

Do you offer a fixed monthly accounting fee?

Accepted Answer

We do. Most clients pay a fixed monthly fee covering bookkeeping, payroll and compliance, with advisory and Virtual FD services added on top. Book a free discovery call for a clear quote based on your turnover, staff and reporting needs.

Question 5

Can you help with Ofsted financial viability for a new children's care home?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our Ofsted Registration Financial Viability Package produces the multi-year cash-flow forecasts, start-up cost plans and financial documentation Ofsted expects from new providers.

Question 6

Do you handle sleep-in pay and National Minimum Wage compliance?

Accepted Answer

We do. Our payroll is rota-aware, covering shift patterns, sleep-ins and waking nights, with NMW compliance checked every pay period.

Question 7

Can you track profitability for each individual placement?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We attribute direct staffing, property, food, transport and overheads to each placement and compare it against the fee received, so you know which placements are viable.

Question 8

Which areas and business sizes do you cover?

Accepted Answer

We work with UK businesses turning £50k to £2m+ and care-home providers across England and Wales. Because everything is delivered through cloud accounting and payroll, location isn't a barrier — we support clients wherever they're based, with a monthly director-level review.

Question 9

How do I switch accountants to Salis?

Accepted Answer

It's straightforward. Book a discovery call, we review what you need, then we handle the handover — contacting your previous accountant, transferring records and setting you up on the right cloud accounting and payroll software. Most switches are completed within a few weeks.

Question 10

Do you offer a free first conversation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every engagement starts with a free, no-obligation discovery call with Daniel. Tell us about your business and what you need — we'll listen and show you exactly how we'd help, with no pressure to commit.
